Long-distance move from Falls Church, VA to Dayton, OH

Worst moving company I have worked with in my military career.

Dishonest, and anti- military! Do not use! Check the BBB for honest (and a lot of dishonest) reviews. The long reviews with details are all very similar to my experience. They told me they were a "military preferred mover" and one of the "Top 3 military movers on the east coast." All of these were verified false with JPPSO once I started having problems. They gave me one rate with great promises, then over doubled the rate and told me that was just for moving, not for packing. When I told them that was unacceptable, they told me I was not allowed to cancel, they would come anyway. After a lot of discussion, I was finally able to find the local mover who they subcontracted with, and they said they were given different dates and would need 3 full days (as I estimated), and that they would not be able to arrive until two days after I needed to be out of the house.
Do not use! I have been in the military for over 20 years, with over a dozen moves, and this was the worst experience I have ever had. (Yes, I have more details if you want to know. See BBB for other similar horror stories.).

Long-distance move from North Carolina to Florida

Not good!

Assurance Van lines out of NY city is a broker for the actual moving company. Eazy moving out of Miami FL was the one who physically moved my belongings. Unfortunately, it all comes down to the guys you get. I was moving a three bedroom house and they showed up with two guys! It took them 10 hours to load my stuff onto the truck. That wouldn't have been so bad if they had spent the time blanket wrapping all the furniture, but they didn't. The soft furniture like my fabric headboard and chair cushions didn't get wrapped
either so there are grease marks on them and 95% of my wood furniture has gouges (not scratches) on the legs, tops or sides. The truck wasn't big enough so they were just cramming it in there. In fact, they didn't get everything in the truck like my refrigerator. Luckily, my house in NC is in escrow so I can go back and get it. I called Assurance van lines on Monday and they appeared concerned when I explained what happened but when I called back the next day, my account was handed over to the customer service department not a single individual. I still don't have my refrigerator nor will anyone call me back. I have called four times and Assurance puts me through to Eazy moving which says they will call back once the dispatcher checks the NC to FL schedule. Luckily I paid the broker, Assurance van lines, by credit card so I disputed the charge.

The photo is the desktop where they placed the finish side against the wall of the truck and the metal pattern of the truck is now gouged into it.

Long-distance move from Estes Park, CO to Paradise, CA

Thinking of this place? Do it!!

I'm so happy I went with them because nothing was damaged. I'll buy again. Oh, and I'll be back when I move my daughter out of Colorado to get to California to attend her new school, UCLA!! :D :D :D, For instance, my move consisted of us arriving and staying at a nice hotel then the next day, they were right behind us arriving with every single item of my husband's and I's furniture!! Any way, their price beat the other stores in the area. So, we're happy. :D :D :D !!

Long-distance move from Ohio to Georgia

RUDE and very unprofessional Service.

I would not use them again nor will I recommend them. I received the delivery 14 calendar late than our scheduled delivery date, charged me 20% more than original amount, driver didn’t know to drive and park 53’ truck - ended up damaging landscaping, received the delivery with damage/broke the sofa frame and tower fan, very hard to communicate with driver and crew members as they only knew few English words.

The sales person and manager were very nice until I signed the contract but experienced RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL behavior from both John and Kassandra during the post pick-up process. The A+ rating by BBB is a false advertisement. The claim process is very time consuming.

Long-distance move from Philadelphia, PA to Los Angeles, CA

Horrific Experience.

DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THIS COMPANY!! I've done 3 cross country moves within the past 7 years and never did I experience this kind of horrible service. My salesman Jim Mitchell made his sales pitch that was appealing, not only with the estimate but the delivery time frame, which was the actual selling point. He told me "Oh! we have a truck going out to Irvine, CA that week so it will only take 7-10 days for delivery" That was a TOTAL LIE. It was picked up on May15th and it is presumably being delivered today June 14th. So as some others have stated in their reviews, once the sales is made and they have your money, you will never hear from your sales person again, even if you call them, they don't transfer calls to your sales person. On top of the late-late delivery, the original estimate was $2400, which was grossly underestimated. It's going to cost over $4000 once it's done. Assurance Van Lines takes no accountability for the false claims they make and once the contract is turned over to the moving company, that's another whole ordeal that you may have to go through. If they guarantee a time, be sure to get it in writing before signing.

Long-distance move from Denver, CO to Maple Heights, OH

Move from Colorado to Ohio.

Shady scam artists. They only care about your business until you submit a deposit. After that, good luck getting ahold of anybody who can help or even cares in the slightest about your move. They contract through multiple other companies and the result is mass chaos, confusion, and a lack of transparency and ownership. Everybody blames everyone else and nobody addresses your concerns.

My initial quote was $500 below the reality, and that was with "Jay" being "super conservative" on his initial quote.

Jay "assured" me that they would store my stuff in Cleveland and I would have access to it before moving into my new home. Of course the actual company doing the move (Eden's Moving Services) had no idea about this arrangement and informed me they store everything in a warehouse in CO that I would not have access to.

After that misrepresentation, they told me my stuff would arrive in 7-10 days. That 7-10 days turned out to be over two weeks.

My belongings were packed in a ridiculously crammed stuck w/ dings, dents, holes, scratches, you name it on anything and everything. What's the point in paying thousands of dollars to move your nice stuff when it shows up looking like you pulled it out of the dumpster?

All in all, these guys are a joke. They could care less about providing decent customer service and just want to get paid.

Buyer beware. Do yourself a favor and pay a little more for a real/reputable mover.

Long-distance move from West Virginia to Indiana

Beware of this company.

I signed an agreement with Assurance Van Lines and told them I needed them to be at my home on November 11, 2016. The document stated they would be at my home on the 11th or 12th. My two daughters and I drove from Indiana to West Virginia where they were to pick my furniture up. They did not show up on the 11th as I had asked them to then on the 12th I did not hear from them until late in the afternoon to say they would not be at my home until th next morning; they broke our agreement. They stated they could not drive on West Virginia roads in a semi truck but I told them semis drove past my home daily. They told me they could not back into my driveway without even seeing my driveway. They never showed up BUT they had Busget Movers and Storage come on Sunday morning, the 13th and the driver stated to me and my daughters they had not known they were picking up my things until the day before when he got a phone call when he was in Florida unloading his truck saying he was to be in West Virginia the next morning, pick up a smaller truck then come load my furniture. I was lied to, they broke their agreement, my daughters had to go to work early Monday morning with very little sleep since we did not g back home until close to midnight and they had to be up by 5am the following morning to be at work by 6am. I was told I would have up to 30 days free storage but about 10 days later I had a phone call from the driver saying my furniture was in Kentucky and be delivered th following day. I told them that was impossible as they were to store it for up to 30 days free and I had not prepared for storage yet. I was charge $500 more than originally quoted for less pounds of furniture than originally agree upon. I feel I was jerked around and not kept informs as to where my furniture was located. I have written a letter to th Better Business Bureau explaining all the dishonesty involved with my move. I would NEVER give this company a good rating as I was totally upset with what they did. I feel Assurance Van Lines lied to me just to get my business then had a different company actually come to my home. I have received large items delivered to my home there where semi trucks backed into my driveway to unload them. They should not be recommended by the a Better Business Bureau. I am a very unhappy customer of this company. Virginia Bilyard.

Long-distance move from Blacksburg, VA to Knoxville, TN

Easy Move.

My partner and I decided to move to Knoxville together and so we had to combine our separate apartments into one moving service. We thought this would be a really annoying process but this company made it easy to go from one apartment to the other and get both sets of stuff before we hauled off to Knoxville. They even took an extra stop at my shared storage unit to grab a few extra things. Very flexible and professional.

Long-distance move from New Mexico to California

Sensitive to my personal situation.

Brandon and Jim are the company reps who I dealt with in scheduling my move. A close relative passed away the same day the movers were scheduled for pickup. Jim was very professional in handling my case and told me he'd send another truck in 2 days. He didn't charge me a penny extra even when the contract said otherwise. Losing someone is something I don't wish to even my enemies, but adding the stress of move put even more pressure on me and my family. Brandon and Jim handled this situation with sensitivity and professionalism. I came from NM to SD for a total of $5300 for a 3 bedroom home. I have nothing but good things to say about Assurance van lines.

Last Minute Move Approved!

Mark helped me out immensely. I needed an estimate for a last minute move with a really fast delivery. My last company fell through a week out and I was desperate. He quoted me easily and scheduled me for my original date with a pickup window. The team worked really well according to my wife who was there to supervise the move out and I saw the unloading team at the new place in Seattle. Absolute Lifesaver.

Service cost: $2850

Official company response

Mr. Chen! I'm glad to hear Mark took care of you. I'll make sure to share this feedback with him and our team. Cheers! - Dan.
